Tilda with Vintage Roses Card using Cheery Lynn Designs Die

I love the intricate dies from Cheery Lynn Designs.  They are perfect for creating cards and scrapbook pages. They are currently holding a Design Team call and I would love to be on that team!

For my entry for the DT I decided to use an image from Magnolia stamps called Tilda with Vintage Roses.  I colored the image with Copic markers and accented it with a Stardust Gelly Roll Pen. The red doily was die cut using the English Tea Party Doily from Cheery Lynn Designs.

Coordinating patterned papers from the Emma's Shoppe Collection from Crate Paper were layered on the front of the card.  I used the Inkessentials Blending Tool to distress the edges of the stamped image to match the vintage look of the paper. Embellishments included scrunched seam binding died with Glimmer Mist, backed with red tulle and topped with a Prima rose.

Pearls and a pearl flourish were colored with Copic markers to match the image.  Finally, I made a stick pin using a corsage pin and some Swarovski crystals. I colored the pearl at the top of the corsage pin with Copic markers and used a bugle bead on the end to cover the sharp point.

I would love to be selected for the Cheery Lynn DT!  I have finished my year on the Creative Team of and love the products that this company sells.

Beach Tilda with Inner Tube Card

I colored this image of Beach Tilda to match some beachy-looking paper that I had left over from a scrapbook layout.  I cut the image of Tilda out and she is sitting on an inner tube image that has also been cut out. Both are placed on top of a set of ovals that were die cut with Nestabilities. I used Copic markers to add water to the image.

I used a multi-colored flower with a button center as an embellishment.  I added a bow made out of red and white baker's twine.  I love this twine, which comes in many different color combinations.  It is very versatile and is great for cards and tags. It is available from a number of different manufacturers and many sellers on package it in small quantities.

The inside of the card has been lined with coordinating papers and a punched border was added.

When I am trying to use up leftover scraps of patterned paper, I have to get a little bit creative to find a card layout that will work.  My friends tell me I should just throw the scraps away, but I just can't seem to do that.  It just seems so wasteful!

I am planning to do some crafting this coming weekend and will probably work on cards and small scrapbooks for sale on etsy or at The Lemon Tree.

Ching Chou Kuik Love is Gone Card

I made this card using an image from artist Ching Chou Kuik from Sweet Pea stamps.  I think this image is really beautiful but it is challenging to color with Copic markers.  I used the "flicking" technique on the wings and also used  the "tip to tip" method to achieve the gradient effect.

The Basic Grey Euphoria collection is still one of my favorites.  I love the pink, purple and blue combinations that it uses and have made many beautiful cards with it.

I chose very simple embellishments for the card since the image is so beautiful.  I added a sheer organza bow tied with my Bow Easy.  I made a stick pin from a corsage pin and added some gorgeous Swarovski crystals to it.  I like to use a bugle bead on the end to made sure no one gets poked.

It has been a very relaxing weekend at home and I have been working on cleaning up my scrapbook room and finishing up some cards.

Ruffles Get Well Soon Card

I have been working on making cards and small gift scrapbooks for sale. I have also been trying to work on my scrapbooks since I am so far behind.

This is a card that I made recently. I love this image from Helz Cuppleditch for Stampavie.  This cute pooch is bandaged and looks so forlorn.  I used patterned papers from a 6x6 pack from the Basic Grey Lemonade line. I used some beautiful roses, punched leaves, ribbon and Dew Drops for embellishments. I also used a scalloped square Nestability to frame the image.  I used a scalloped Stampin' Up punch for a border on the front of the card.

I like to embellish the insides of the cards that I make.  I feel like I spend so much time on the front of the card that the inside needs to match it.

This card is currently for sale at The Lemon Tree shop in Wake Forest.  The Lemon Tree sells handmade goods and is a really cute store!

Travels in Turkey

I can't believe that it has been more than 3 months since I updated my blog!  I am going to try to do a better job of keeping it updated.  My spot on the Creative Team for will end in a few weeks.  While I really enjoyed doing it, that will free up some time.

The Blue Mosque in Istanbul
Last month we took a 10 day trip to Turkey to visit our daughter who was studying abroad in Istanbul.  We spent a few days in Istanbul before flying to Bodrum, along the Aegean Coast.

View from our condo in Bodrum
Then we flew back to Istanbul and on to Cappadoccia, in the mountains. We took a hot air balloon ride early in the morning tha was amazing. We ended the trip with 2 more days in Istanbul.

Hot Air Balloons in Cappadoccia
We had a great time on the trip and saw some very interesting places.  We were glad that we had the opportunity to go and have Kelly as our tour guide.  However, I was ready to come home at the end of 10 days.  We spent a lot of time in airports and getting from place to place on this trip.

I have been working on my scrapbook for last year's Meditarrean Cruise.  I want to finish that up before I start working on our Turkey scrapbook.
